Sophie has worked as both a musculoskeletal and pelvic health physiotherapist across private practice, and public and private hospital settings in New Zealand.
With a background in the military and a passion for trail running, Sophie developed a strong interest in sports and rehabilitation, which naturally led her into musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Following her own experiences of pregnancy and motherhood, she became increasingly drawn to women’s health physiotherapy, supporting women through their antenatal and postpartum journeys. This inspired her to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Physiotherapy (Pelvic Health).
Her key areas of clinical interest include:
- Antenatal and postnatal checkups and rehabilitation
- Persistent pelvic pain, including pre- and post-operative support for endometriosis
- Bladder conditions (incontinence, urgency) – women and men
- Bowel conditions (incontinence, urgency, constipation) – women and men
- Pelvic organ prolapse, including pessary fitting, monitoring, and pre-/post-operative care
- Sexual pain and other GPPPD conditions (trauma-sensitive)
- Pre- and post-prostatectomy pelvic floor rehabilitation (men)
Sophie’s philosophy is to “work herself out of a job” by empowering her clients to understand their bodies, reduce bothersome symptoms, and confidently manage their own health. She believes education and exercise are the cornerstones of effective rehabilitation.
Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their three young sons – a lively crew that ensures life is always full of energy and movement.
