We are proud to have Siôn leading our team of clinicians and chiropractors as Head of Care and Senior Physiotherapist at Align Health Abu Dhabi.

Siôn is from Wales, UK. He gained his BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Plymouth, UK, and has been practicing for 13 years. Ten out of those 13 years have been spent working and living in the UAE. He has acquired experience treating a broad spectrum of injuries and illnesses, specializing in sporting injuries and return to sport.

Outside the clinic, Siôn also participates in and coaches CrossFit, where he promotes correct movement. He has a background in many sports such as rugby, swimming, and horse riding. Siôn is also passionate about surfing, hiking, and travelling which he tries to do as often as possible.

Konstantinos Kounas

Physiotherapist

Konstantinos joins us as an experienced physiotherapist from Athens, Greece where he has worked in rehabilitation centres and physiotherapy clinics alike. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from the Technological Education Foundation of Physical Therapy T.E.I of Athens in 2009.

Konstantinos specialises in the prevention of injuries, muscular balance enhancement and range of motion development as well as sports-related and degenerative disorders of the knees, shoulders, hips, elbows and spine. He has a breadth of knowledge in dealing with post-surgery rehabilitation, particularly in relation to the knee, spine, shoulders and ankles.

A competitive swimmer in his past, Konstantinos has been able to transfer his enjoyment of sport into his work, having worked with the female national handball team of Greece, a number of football teams and paralympic athletes. These experiences have increased his knowledge of assisting in the rehabilitation of athletes, dealing with the prevention and management of injuries and enhancing competitive performance.

Fernando Tassi Salati

Physiotherapist

Dr. Fernando joins us at Align in Abu Dhabi as a Physiotherapist from Sassari, in Sardinia, Italy.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from the Catholic University of Valencia (UCV) and later obtained specialisation degrees in both Osteopathy (DO) and Naprapathy (DN).

Fernando has wide knowledge in different manual therapy techniques and keeps on improving his skills by attending continued education courses.He has experience in the treatment of vertigo, dizziness, motion sickness and other disorders related to the field of vestibular rehabilitation.

He has worked with elite and olympic level athletes, from runners and swimmers to combat sports athletes. He was the physiotherapist at the Valencia Marathon on a number of occassions. In the past, Fernando played basketball for top-level youth teams, even moving to Arizona during high school to pursue his basketball dream. He is a fan of mixed martial arts and Formula 1 and likes outdoor activities.

Joni Shanta

Physiotherapist

Joni joins us from Scotland, having recently moved to Abu Dhabi with her family. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2010, following this she worked in a hospital in Glasgow covering orthopaedics and surgical wards before moving into the musculoskeletal outpatients department.

Joni then moved into high performance sport which she has worked in for the past 10 years, working for the Institute of Sport in Scotland. Joni has been the lead physiotherapist for multiple national programmes such as golf, netball and triathlon. Here she gained vast experience in elite performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation and has thoroughly enjoyed supporting athletes in training and at major competition. More recently Joni has also developed her knowledge around supporting females and scar therapy.

Joni loves to keep active and lift in the gym or run outdoors. She has a young family who love travel, sport and nature.

Angelina Lukaszenko

Physiotherapist

We are thrilled to welcome Angelina to our clinic as a highly skilled physiotherapist, specialising in a diverse range of treatment options for musculoskeletal pain and sports injuries. With seven years of experience in the UAE and four years in Poland, Angelina has worked with professional athletes at the FIFA Clinic of Excellence in Warsaw. She holds a master's degree from Warsaw Medical University and is dedicated to integrating scientific knowledge with a holistic approach to patient care.

As an international speaker and published author in physiotherapy articles relating to dance, gymnastics, equestrian sport and running - all of which can be found on the ResearchGate platform. Angelina specialises in sports injuries, prevention, and facilitating return-to-sport protocols following injury or surgery, particularly focusing on the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle regions.

Beyond her clinical work, Angelina combines her passion for equestrian sport with her teaching experience by offering horse riding training that emphasizes proper biomechanics for riders. She is developing her own non-clinical brand, EQB- Equestrian Biomechanics.

Her personal interests include kite surfing, wake surfing, and tango dancing.

Patrick Milton

Physiotherapist

Graduating from the University of Malta in 1996, Patrick went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Leeds (UK) in 2001. With over two decades of experience, Patrick has built a diverse and international career across government and private healthcare sectors in Malta, Italy, and the UAE.

Throughout his career, Patrick has worked extensively in sports physiotherapy. In Malta, he provided physiotherapy support to national teams across volleyball, basketball, hockey, and football. He later served as the Head Physiotherapist for the Abu Dhabi Harlequins Rugby Club, a position he held until 2021.

His experience also includes working with elite football teams, including traveling with Floriana FC (Maltese Premier League) to UEFA Champions League and Intertoto Cup fixtures, as well as supporting Reggina FC in Italy’s Serie A during his time at a private clinic in Reggio Calabria.

Since relocating to Abu Dhabi in 2007, Patrick has led a physiotherapy department within a leading private medical facility, continuing his commitment to providing expert care to both everyday patients and high-performance athletes.

Moataz Elbadrawy

Moataz Elbadrawy is an accomplished physiotherapist from Egypt. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from Cairo University in 2015, laying the foundation for his career in the field of physical therapy.

In 2021, Moataz achieved his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, specialising in sports injuries. His dedication to excellence led him to pursue numerous courses in various physiotherapy specialties, further enhancing his expertise and knowledge. His extensive skill set empowers him to provide comprehensive care to his patients, promoting their well-being and recovery.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Moataz is an enthusiast for an active and balanced lifestyle. He enjoys going to the gym and also enjoys activities such as running and swimming. David Slack

Physiotherapist

Originally from England, David graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Northumbria University in 2016. He began his career in the UK, gaining valuable experience across both the National Health Service and a semi-private hospital setting, where he developed a strong foundation in managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Over the years, David has developed a particular interest in shoulder and lower limb rehabilitation, with a passion for helping patients regain confidence in managing their injuries. His approach is centred on clear communication, individualised treatment, and empowering patients to achieve their personal goals — whether returning to sport, work, or daily activity.

Alongside his clinical work, David has provided physiotherapy support at the Great North Run on multiple occasions and worked with a Northern Football League team, gaining valuable team-based rehab experience.

Since relocating to the UAE in 2022, David has continued to share his expertise in musculoskeletal care with the local community. Outside the clinic, he enjoys keeping active through gym training, playing golf, and getting his 10,000 steps a day — ideally under the sun. A former cricketer, he also enjoys weekends filled with good food, good coffee, exercise, and watching football.

Dr. Jena Barnawi earned her Doctorate from Northeast College of Health Sciences, USA. after receiving a BSc in Biology with a concentration in pre-medicine at Xavier University, USA.

Sophie Coulter

Physiotherapist

Sophie has worked as both a musculoskeletal and pelvic health physiotherapist across private practice, and public and private hospital settings in New Zealand.

With a background in the military and a passion for trail running, Sophie developed a strong interest in sports and rehabilitation, which naturally led her into musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Following her own experiences of pregnancy and motherhood, she became increasingly drawn to women’s health physiotherapy, supporting women through their antenatal and postpartum journeys. This inspired her to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Physiotherapy (Pelvic Health).

Her key areas of clinical interest include:

Katie Venables

Business Administrator

Katie is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, although she has spent the last 8 years living in Turkey, France and now the UAE. She has a legal background, having studied law at Durham University in the UK and going on to work as a senior associate with international law firm, Taylor Wessing specialising in property finance.

A mum of three young kids, Katie enjoys spending time outdoors, travelling and experiencing new cultures and cuisines. She has always had a keen interest in fitness, running competitively as a child and then rowing for her university. Since arriving in Abu Dhabi she has rediscovered her love for health and fitness and developed a keen interest in CrossFit.

Marianne Knight

Physiotherapist

Originally from Norway, Marianne brings nearly two decades of clinical experience to the team, having worked in both Norway and the UAE. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from the University College of Oslo, with continued studies in Clinical Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Physiotherapy.

With a holistic approach to treatment, Marianne specialises in general musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has a particular interest in movement analysis, chronic and acute pain, and creating tailored treatment plans that focus on body awareness. She treats a wide range of conditions, including neck and back pain, headaches, shoulder injuries, and lower limb issues involving the hips, knees, and ankles.

Earlier in her career, Marianne also worked as a personal trainer in the UK, further developing her passion for movement and injury prevention. She has now lived in the UAE for 11 years, spending four years in Dubai before settling in Abu Dhabi with her family.

Outside the clinic, Marianne enjoys an active lifestyle, staying fit through HIIT training and spending her weekends exploring the outdoors with her family.
